The JAS team participated in the event "Restoration and sustainability: the future through intangible cultural heritage"

On October 16, the president of the Junior Academy of Sciences, Stanislav Dovhiy, and the curators of the intangible cultural heritage protection project of the National Academy of Sciences, Maria Lubynska and Bohdan Hasiuk, joined the event of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine "Recovery and sustainability: the future through intangible cultural heritage."

The event was held on the occasion of the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, during which the exhibition "Living Heritage: Time, Space, Culture" was opened. Stanislav Dovgiy, president of the National Academy of Sciences, made a speech, noting: "This year, the practice of the Junior Academy of Sciences on the protection of Hutsul ornament (patterns) and the cultural space connected with it was included in the inventory of appropriate practices for the protection of intangible cultural heritage of the National List of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. This event is the result of the work of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, because our team introduces knowledge about intangible cultural heritage into the educational process and spreads it among young people."

The event was also attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Viktor Sydorenko, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Anastasia Bondar, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oles Sanin, Director of the Department of Restoration and Cultural reintegration of de-occupied territories ICSK Diana Tryma, head of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine Yevgeny Shevchenko, director of the Institute of Cultural Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Hanna Chmil, head of the public organization "Alyem" Esma Ajieva, general director of the National Museum of Folk Art of Hutsul region and Pokuttya named after Y. Kobrynskyi in Kolomyia Yaroslav Tkachuk, masters of pysankarya Zoya Stashuk and Vira Manko.

During the event, Stanislav Dovgiy said that this summer the National Academy of Arts and Sciences held the All-Ukrainian School "Ethnographic Expedition "Trails of Hutsul Ornament"" in Kolomyia, which was dedicated to the memory of the researcher of Hutsul creativity Mykhailo Kurylych. During school, children had the opportunity to communicate with masters, carriers of culture, and learn from their experience. In particular, the pupils of the National Academy of Sciences visited the carver Myroslav Radish, the potter Serhiy Dutka, the bedmaker Svitlana Pavlyuk, and the master of folk musical instruments Mykhailo Tafiychuk.

"Today we heard a lot of interesting thoughts that will have a practical implementation in the future. As for extracurricular activities, the work performed by the Ministry of Education is important. However, in addition, we must make joint efforts to ensure the preservation of intangible cultural heritage in the foci of its origin and development," said Viktor Sydorenko, president of the NAM.

The Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, noted that with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the "Observatory of Living Heritage" was created on the basis of the Junior Academy of Sciences together with partners. It is a kind of research laboratory, the purpose of which is to show the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in the study of living heritage, to stimulate young researchers to use various tools in the study of intangible cultural heritage, to help develop the skills of working in a team representing different age groups and competencies.

The head of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine Yevhen Shevchenko emphasized the importance of involving folk masters in educational and research projects.

"This year, on the basis of our National Museum of Folk Art of the Hutsul Region and Pokuttia named after Josaphat Kobrynskyi, the National Academy of Arts and Sciences held a summer school. It was an amazing experience. Our team had the opportunity to get to know young researchers, and they, in turn, were fascinated by the culture and art preserved and developed by the Carpathian land," shared Yaroslava Tkachuk, director of the National Museum of Folk Art of the Hutsul Region and Pokuttia named after Josaphat Kobrynskyi.
