ETHNIC + ART FORUM, Mother Ukraine Embraces Hutsul Region

The ETHNIC + ART FORUM, Mother Ukraine Embraces Hutsul Region, was held on May 29, 2024, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Ukraine’s accession to UNESCO. The Forum was designed to celebrate the rich cultural legacy of the Hutsul region and its significance for Ukraine and the world, bringing together participants from different parts of Ukraine in a mixed format to share knowledge, experience, and artistic achievements. The Forum’s agenda included the following:

• grand opening;
• thematic area sessions (Hutsul ornamentation, spiritual culture of the Hutsul region, influence of the Hutsul region on the development of Ukrainian literature);
• master classes;
• youth ART challenge, Hutsul Path through Ages, paying tribute to the legacy and work of Mykhailo Kurylych;
• all-Ukrainian seminar in the Open Talk format dedicated to promoting ethno-legacy at educational institutions.

The Forum demonstrated the depth and diversity of Ukrainian culture. The exploration and reproduction of Hutsul traditions will help preserve and promote the unique cultural legacy of the Hutsul region as an intangible cultural asset of global significance.
