👩‍🏫 We invite primary and secondary school teachers to participate in the UNESCO project!

We offer you a great opportunity to deepen your knowledge of living heritage*, explore how it can be integrated into the teaching of different subjects, strengthen connections in your community, and bring your creative ideas to life!

📌 What is the project about?

The first phase of the UNESCO project “Supporting the Resilience of Ukrainian Children through Teaching and Learning through Living Heritage” was successfully implemented in Ukraine from 2022 to 2024. The initiative, funded by the UNESCO Fund for Heritage in Emergencies, was implemented by UNESCO in collaboration with the Democracy through Culture Development Center, a non-governmental organization accredited by UNESCO for the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This phase of the project involved 12 schools (including schools from the UNESCO Associated Schools Network) from different regions of Ukraine, and resulted in the publication of a practical guide for primary and secondary school teachers in Ukraine, “Teaching and Learning through Living Heritage,” which is available online.

Building on this experience, UNESCO, in partnership with the “Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” — a Category 2 Center for Science Education under the auspices of UNESCO, and in cooperation with the Development Center “Democracy through Culture,” are launching the second phase of the project to create conditions for scaling up the methodology in Ukraine. This phase involves training up to 100 teacher trainers across Ukraine and developing an online platform in Ukrainian with methodological materials, case studies, films, and tools for teachers interested in applying this methodology in Ukraine.

👩‍🏫 Who are we inviting?

Primary and secondary school teachers of educational institutions of various forms of ownership - state, private or municipal, representing school and extracurricular education.

💡 What will you get?

By joining the project, you will receive 4 days of face-to-face training and 32 hours of distance learning to deepen your knowledge and master the methodology, as well as consultations with experts who will accompany you throughout the project. After the project is completed, you will be able to sign an agreement on the exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge to your colleagues.

* What is living heritage?

This is another term for intangible cultural heritage, which encompasses our traditions, crafts, holidays, songs, cooking, knowledge that lives in communities and is passed down from generation to generation.
