Zhuravlyky (Little Cranes)
An ornamental motif made up of channels that resemble the V-shaped formation of flying cranes. It is mainly used to create band patterns or to fill the background. Sometimes, this motif is an auxiliary element in the centrepiece rosette-type ornamental patterns. It is used in flat carving, inlays with non-ferrous metal alloys, engraving, metal chasing, and pysanka (Easter egg) design.
