Plaivky (Small Mountain Passes)
Plaivki is a border ornamental motif consisting of semicircles arranged alternately with their convex sides facing up and down. It is commonly used in carving and inlay design. The term ‘plaivki’ is derived from the Ukrainian word ‘plai’, which refers to a winding mountain pass.
