An ornamental motif made up of circular shapes arranged within corresponding structures, such as border or centrepiece patterns. This motif is used in carving, inlay, woodburning, metal chasing, and other crafts. Depending on the size of the circles (or rings), their grouping, and how they combine with each other or with other elements, the nature of the motif can change, influencing both the artistic and aesthetic essence of the entire composition.The ‘rings’ may be repeated in a rhythmic sequence along a straight, broken, bent line, or circle. They can also be combined with other elements, forming new motifs or enriching existing ones.

Smaller circular elements give rise to motifs such as ‘kruzhechky’ (circles), ‘kiltsiatka’ (rings), ‘obruchyky’ (hoops), ‘kolachyky’ (small circles), ‘kolisnychky’ (chariots), ‘vizochky’ (carts), ‘lantsiuzhok’ (chain), etc. Rosette-type and centrepiece motifs are formed on the basis of larger circular forms: ‘sonechko’ (sun), ‘soniashnyk; (sunflower), ‘vinochok’ (wreath), ‘kosytsi’ (braids), ‘mlynok’ (mill), large ‘ruzha’ and small ‘ruzha’ (rose), etc.
