Kosytsia (Flower)
A centerpiece ornamental motif consisting of a rosette with graniform petals clustered in a circular arrangement around a centre. The motif looks like a kind of flower. The word ‘kosytsia’ comes from the Hutsul name for edelweiss or from the Hutsul verb ‘zakosychuvaty’ – to adorn with flowers. This motif is widely used in wood carving, inlay designs, and metal chasing.
