An ornamental band motif made up of a combination of semicircular (arches) and straight lines such as ‘drabynka’ (ladder). It is created by the engraving technique. The ‘tsyhanska dorizhka’ (gypsy path) variant is a channel-like wavy line consisting of rhythmic repetitions of vertical segments that close in semicircles at the top and bottom. Both motifs are used to frame or divide ornamental compositions.
