A meander motif consisting of a row of hooks connected to each other by a straight line. This motif is used in numerous combinations with other elements to create border and centerpiece compositions. There are many variations of hook-like motifs – hachky prosti (simple hooks), hachky skosheni (bevelled hooks), hachky v skrynkakh (hooks inside boxes), hachky v rombakh (hooks inside rhombuses), hachky v kvadratakh (hooks inside squares), hachky dubeltovi (double hooks), hachky v klyntsiakh (hooks with wedges), rachky (crayfish), etc. Due to a certain similarity of this motif to the sticks used to raise buckets with water from wells, as well as to the scythe with a hook-shaped handle, some craftsmen call these motif kliuchky (sticks) or kosy (scythes).
