An ornamental motif consisting of interconnected diamonds or squares arranged at an angle, with crosshatched surfaces (‘ilchate pysmo’). The motif generally resembles ‘medivnyky’ (honey cookies) and is slightly similar to real cucumbers, despite carrying their name. The shape of the cucumbers is more closely represented by elongated, oval motifs with rounded tails at the bottom, which are primarily found in metal chasing and woodburning.
