An ornamental motif consisting of simple horseshoe-like elements. The combination of several pidkivka motifs or their use with other elements may produce vast number of peculiar border motifs, namely zvychaini pidkivky (ordinary horseshoes), dubeltovi pidkivky (double horseshoes), zmiika (snake), tsyhanska dorizhka (gypsy path), hruni (hilltops), vitriachok (small windmill), oleniachi rizhky (deer antlers), sonichko (sun) and many more. This motif is mostly used in metal inlays.
